FOR MORE THAN 30 GENERATIONS THE NOBLE FAMILY FRESCOBALDI HAS MADE FANTASTIC WINES IN BEAUTIFUL TOSCANA BY THE MEDITERANEAN.
Today Lamberto Frescobaldi is the president of seven different castles and vineyards. Frescobaldi also produces a delicious olive oil, Laudemio, and runs several restaurants.
Even though Frescobaldi bases its operations on old traditions and experience, the company still manages to focus on trends and innovation. Today a very clever and young woman, Eleonora Marconi, is the winemaker at Castello Nipozzano.
Nipozzano Chianti Rùfina Riserva is one of the historic wines being produced at Castello Nipozzano. According to a myth Nipozzano means “without a well”, which is a direct reference to the regions east of Florence where there is very little access to water. The lack of water gives the grapes that mature and exquisite flavor. The Coat of Arms on the label belongs to the Florence family Albizi and represents the wedding between Albizi´s last heir and Angelo Frescobaldi.
Nipozzano Chianta Rùfina Riserva 2014 is intense and has a deep ruby-red color. Clean smell of dark berries, violets and other types of flowers. A wine with fine tannins and with a delicate hint of chocolate and leather in the finishing touch. Ninety percent of the wine is made from Sangiovese and the other 10 % from Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It has 2 % residual sugar per liter, 5 grams per liter acidity and the alcohol content is thirteen percent. The wine is stored for 24 months in oak barrels, six of those months in small barrels. After bottling the wine is matured for three months before being released for sale ready for consumption, but can still be stored for another couple of years. The wine is great with grilled, red meat, but it is also suitable for simpler food like pizza, pasta with a meat sauce, lasagna or tasty cheese.
